Kaleidoscope is a celebration of creativity and a love for art! Like colourful pieces merging together to form a visual spectacle, each student brought forward works of art that represented their personal learning and accomplishments. Together we have formed a Kaleidoscope!

Exercising creativity and engaging in the process of art making is the true essence of thinking with imagination. From this vantage point, ideas are formed, discoveries are made and the strengthening of an innovative mind is cultivated. Fostering artistic expression is essential in the growth and development of a child. We must be mindful of helping children to nourish long lasting creativity with a variety of opportunities. Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Let’s keep our children playing in a creative kaleidoscope.

Kaleidoscope is also about acknowledging authenticity. In a society that revolves around perfection, we often notice children stifling their creativity with notions of perfected images. This airbrushed ideal and a drive for perfection causes children to prematurely curb their creativity. It can quickly become replaced with emerging self criticism and a growing sense of anxiety. Pieces in this show demonstrate the creative process in a genuine way. Imperfections are valued, and in fact they are most beautiful!
WELLNESS
WELLNESS
A feeling of wholeness and wellness comes from the creation of art. The viewer is challenged to experience each piece through the eyes of a child. When viewing the artwork use your senses. Imagine the sounds that surrounded the artwork while it was being made. I hope you can hear laughter, praise and words of affirmation. I hope you could feel the materials, texture and the pride of making something by hand. I hope you could see the artist making the piece with blends of colours and free flowing brushstrokes. In any small way, if it returns you to a place of pure innocence, joy, self acceptance and curiosity, then Kaleidoscope has touched your heart!
